Actress Yara Martinez
by Betty Jo Tucker

The lovely and talented Yara Martinez drops by Movie Addict Headquarters on March 8th to discuss her acting experience in movies and television. Yara appeared with Sean Bean in The Hitcher remake, and her TV credits include such shows as Southland, My Own Worst Enemy, Chase, and The Unit. She will next be seen starring in A&E’s Breakout Kings, premiering on Sunday, March 6th.

Breakout Kings is a new action-packed ensemble from the creators of the hit series Prison Break. It follows an unconventional partnership between the U.S. Marshals’ office and a group of convicts as they work to catch fugitives on the run. However, unlike Prison Break, this show has a humorous side.

After performing a recurring role on Seasons 1 and 2 of Southland, Yara returns to Season 3 for a major story arc. She also played fugitive Karen Nelson on Chase and “Annie” on The Unit. On My Own Worst Enemy, Yara portrayed Christian Slater’s wife.

Yara, who was born in Puerto Rico, likes to travel and has been all over the world. She grew up in Miami before moving to L.A. and stays fit by shadowboxing, pilates and spinning. She did ballet for 10 years, so it’s not surprising she’s an avid music lover who enjoys going to concerts and music festivals.
