Actress Ingrid Bergman’s life may have been tainted by scandal, but her wonderful movies live on as a reminder of her natural beauty and talent. Who can forget Bergman’s mesmerizing performances in such great films as Casablanca, Gaslight, Notorious, Spellbound and Murder on the Orient Express?

When Bergman, a top box office star, left Hollywood in 1949 to make a movie with director Roberto Rossellini in Italy, little did she know it would be many years before she could return to America. Because she was a married woman and a mother, shock waves circled the globe at the news of Bergman’s subsequent affair with -- and pregnancy by -- Rossellini. She was even denounced on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

After reading Ingrid: Ingrid Bergman, A Personal Biography by Charlotte Chandler, I realized what a fascinating life this Oscar-winning actress led. Next Tuesday, April 8, my producer Nikki Starr and I will discuss Bergman’s life and movies on “Movie Addict Headquarters.”
