Robert Osborne's Classic Film Festival
by Betty Jo Tucker

Robert Osborne, the distinguished host of Turner Classic Movies, offers film fans three days of classics and conversation at his upcoming film festival in Athens, Georgia. From April 10-13, participants will see and discuss a variety of classic films, including Notorious, Young Frankenstein, Lawrence of Arabia, The Way We Were, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and African Queen. This exciting event will be held in The Classic Center, Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for film fans to meet each other and celebrate their love of classic films,” says Diana Saenger of ClassicMovieGuide.com.

How Osborne manages to find the time to put on a film festival is a mystery to me. He hosts four primetime movies seven days a week as well as two other programs for TCM. He also writes a regular column for The Hollywood Reporter.  “He’s one of the busiest people I know,” Saenger declares. Known as the official Oscar® biographer, Osborne even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His acclaimed book, 75 Years of Oscar is being updated to cover the last five years and will be released sometime this year.

On Tuesday, March 18, Osborne and Saenger will join me and producer Nikki Starr on “Movie Addict Headquarters.” The show airs on BlogTalkRadio at 4 p.m. Eastern Time, and an archived segment will be available after the live broadcast. Please join us for a lively discussion of Osborne’s Classic Film Fest and other topics of interest to fans of classic films. Click on this BlogTalkRadio link to hear the show at its scheduled time -- and remember, if you miss the live show, you can check out the archived segment.
