Winstead Wins
by Richard Jack Smith

I saw the film Kate starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead a few weeks back. Wasn't happy with the regular review format, so I made something "psychedelic" with a poem. My new format review is presented below. Hope you enjoy it.

Combating the plague of final minutes, Kate delivered the beast. Twisting arms and breaking charms, she made her way to seedy underbelly. Poison patches pick at her soul, a stimulant broke the carpet of woe. As a flame of justice, Mary Elizabeth Winstead discarded all shallow prophecies. On alert at every snap, she made the diagnosis recede, an engineer on the frontline bullet bound, limping yet fierce. She cast her mark in timely juxtaposition.

Gathering a friend while ghosting information, she conjured a ribbon both Alamo and victory. Sinking into the endless colour, neon networks needing both flicker and clarity. By making a flaw the insightful rector, Kate knew her limits yet grasped eternity. The journey matters more than the crescendo into dreamy conditioning.

Ponder a complaint minus the bruise. Generate empathy where others refuse. Kate respects the wither; a tender gadget worn and shattered, epic in a clothesline. Stone seed, the craftsmanship of glimmer tending hazards via vaporous palms and brittle clouds.

Time to rhyme:

The news of doom

Meant clearing the room.

For Kate, a chance to make amends

On this her new friendship depends.

Winstead wins in smashing thriller

Like John Wick, she's quite a killer.

No tears nor pity needed

All sentimental qualities were weeded.

Woody Harrelson makes a fine showing

All smarts and skills end up glowing.

The writing from golden quill

Kate transcends run of the mill.

Editing felt top notch

Such attention to detail cannot botch.

All about the journey

Even the strongest character requires a gurney.

Kate joins the elite

A remarkable and singular feat.

Winstead has made her mark

Even when the lights go dark.

(Released by Netflix and rated "R" by MPAA.)
