More Great Movie Tunes
by Betty Jo Tucker

Movie Addict HQ salutes singers and songs from favorite films during its Third Annual Musical Tribute show scheduled for March 18. Among the artists to be honored are Julie Andrews, Elvis Presley, Judy Garland, James Cagney, Lucie Arnaz, Al Jolson, Gene Kelly, Alice Faye, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and more.

Ever since Jolson sang “Toot Toot Tootsie” in The Jazz Singer back in 1927, movie tunes have been entertaining viewers throughout the world. We owe a debt of gratitude not only to the performers but also to lyricists and composers -- people like Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Alan Menken, the Gershwins -- and so many more. Of course, it’s not possible to recognize all of Hollywood’s memorable film music in one show, but a variety of singers and songs are included in this special episode.

Join in the fun while listening to the great movie tunes below -- plus some surprises!

“Viva Las Vegas”

“Hooray for Hollywood”

“Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”

“Footloose”

“I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy”

“You’ll Never Know”

“A Spoonful of Sugar”

“Toot Toot Tootsie”

 “Singin’ in the Rain”

“Smile”

“You and the Night and the Music”

“Somewhere Over the Rainbow”

“Time Warp”

“As Time Goes By”

“More Great Movie Tunes” airs on BlogTalkRadio at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time) on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. During the live show, listeners are encouraged to participate in a chat as well as to call in. An archived segment will also be available.
