Tanna Frederick Tribute
by Betty Jo Tucker

Tanna Frederick, an award-winning actress, director, and environmentalist, has been named “Favorite Female Star on Movie Addict Headquarters” by listeners who voted in an e-mail election during the past two weeks. In recognition of this honor, a special tribute for Tanna will be held on the November 27th MAHQ show, and the talented honoree has agreed to be present for these festivities. The list of nominees in this voting event included some of Hollywood’s greatest stars, including Cloris Leachman, Rita Moreno, Lucille Ball and Katharine Hepburn.

“Spellbinding, stunning, radiant, irresistible, jaw-dropping” -- these are words critics have used to describe Tanna on screen. She recently wrapped Henry Jaglom’s romantic comedy The “M” Word with Corey Feldman, Michael Imperioli and Frances Fisher. She made her directorial debut while also starring in a theatre production of Why We Have a Body at the Edgemar Center for the Arts. She recently filmed The Farm, in which she portrays a single mother who returns to Iowa to deal with her past. And she has appeared with Judd Nelson in the Jaglom comedy Just 45 Minutes from Broadway which explores the complex emotional lives of theater folk. Tanna also starred opposite Noah Wyle in Jaglom’s 2010 romantic comedy Queen of the Lot.

For her performance in her first feature with Jaglom, Hollywood Dreams, Tanna was named Best Actress at WorldFest Houston, Montana International Film Festival, Fargo Film Festival and the Wild Rose Film Festival. Among Tanna’s other acting honors are “Performer To Watch” at Method Fest and a “Maverick” Award from the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival.

Off-screen, Tanna is founder of the Iowa Film Festival and -- with the help of famed surfer Shaun Tomson -- started “Project Save Our Surf,” an annual event which raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Oceana organization in Washington, D. C.

“The Tanna Frederick Tribute” airs live on BlogTalkRadio at 1 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. Eastern Time) on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. During the live show, listeners are invited to call in and to participate in a chat. An archived segment will also be available.
