Hitchcock Stories
by Betty Jo Tucker

Stephen Schochet, author of Hollywood Stories: Short, Entertaining Anecdotes about the Stars and Legends of Hollywood, drops by Movie Addict HQ on November 13th to share revealing information about Alfred Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense. Hitchcock is receiving new attention lately as a result of an upcoming big screen release titled simply Hitchcock (starring Anthony Hopkins) and a recent TV film, The Girl, about Hitchcock’s obsession with actress Tippi Hedren.

As a Hollywood tour guide, Schochet began doing research years ago in order to tell colorful tales about Tinseltown to his customers -- and most of these tales are included in his fun book. He also hosts a syndicated one minute radio feature called Hollywood Stories Among the questions Schochet plans to discuss on Movie Addict HQ are the following:

How did PSYCHO help make Hitchcock a rich man?

Why did Hitchcock find it difficult to get actors to work with him when he first came to America?

What did he really think about actors?

Is there any truth to the rumors about Hitchcock’s obsession about Tippi Hedren?

What happened during a confrontation between James Stewart and Hitchcock while filming REAR WINDOW?

How did Hitchcock and David O. Selznick get along?

How did Hitchcock’s cameos get started?

How did Stephen Spielberg make Hitchcock happy later in his life?

What did Hitchcock consider the difference between Horror and Suspense?

This should be a fascinating show for movie fans! Here’s what Dawn Rabon, an executive producer at Supertalk.fm, says about Schochet:

Stephen Schochet gives us Hollywood unveiled in its finest form, telling this narrative of his time as a tour guide with humor, history, and best of all – tidbits about celebrities not known before. He is definitely a listener favorite. One of those rare guests that gets your attention, and keeps it….His book is fantastic, moreover, He is GREAT Radio!
