Frankenstein Revisited
by Betty Jo Tucker

The gang at Movie Addict Headquarters revisits film versions of Mary Shelley’s iconic monster during our last 2010 Horror Film Month episode. This popular pre-recorded show features author Frederick Wiebel Jr. and Mad Movie Man A.J. Hakari in a fascinating discussion of Thomas Edison’s Frankenstein plus the classic 1931 film starring Boris Karloff and Mel Brooks’ very funny Young Frankenstein.

Wiebel helped find, restore and facilitate the production of the first DVD release of Edison’s Frankenstein film. He has screened and lectured about this historic movie at various institutions, universities and film conventions including The Monster Bash and Chiller events. Wiebel also cooperated with others to produce a graphic novel, Edison’s Frankenstein 1910, published by Comic International Library in 2003. He has received many honors and accolades -- including a letter of recommendation from the Library of Congress -- for his efforts in connection with Edison’s Frankenstein. Articles about Wiebel and his work have appeared in The New York Post, The Washington Times, The Herald-Mail and numerous other publications.

Hakari serves as the horror expert for ReelTalk Movie Reviews and writes reviews for various sites including Review Express, Classic Movie Guide and Terror Tube. He also operates Passport Cinema, a site devoted to foreign language films.

This special episode airs on BlogTalkRadio at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time, 2 p.m. Mountain Time) on Tuesday, October 26. A live Chat will be available for listeners, and a book giveaway drawing is also planned, so don’t forget to join us for some Halloween fun!
