Actress Ever Carradine, music man Zach Selwyn and director Matthew Leutwyler will discuss Dead & Breakfast, their hilarious horror musical, during this third 2010 Horror Film Month episode on Movie Addict Headquarters.

Ever is the daughter of actor Robert Carradine and boasts over 40 films and TV shows to her credit. She’s appeared in such films as My Boss’s Daughter, Lucky 13, Bubble Boy and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Her television work includes roles in a variety of shows like 24, Eureka, Once & Again, Castle, Supernatural, Commander in Chief and Women’s Murder Club.

In Dead & Breakfast, Ever fends off a veritable army of ghouls in a dynamic performance reminiscent of Uma Thurman in the Kill Bill movies. Musician Zach Selwyn adds a hokey charm to the proceedings by singing country rap introductions as segues to each major section of the film. And filmmaker Matthew Leutwyler (co-founder of Ambush Entertainment) soaks the movie in outrageous gore. Think Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Shaun of the Dead. 

The story is a simple one. Six friends are traveling together to a wedding when they stop to stay for the night at a sinister inn in a creepy Texas town. After opening a mysterious object, one member of the group turns into a violent ghoul. Before long, the ghoulish creatures outnumber the town’s living inhabitants. If this sounds a bit like zombie/ghoul movies you’ve seen before, you’re on the right track. But this one also features surprising musical numbers. My favorite? A weird song and dance routine by a chorus of ghouls that rivals “Time Warp” for nonsensical fun.
