March Movie Fare (2010)
by Betty Jo Tucker

Starting off with Johnny Depp and ending in a hot tub time machine, March looks like a pretty inconsistent movie month. Still, viewers may be in for some pleasant surprises with favorite stars like Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Dakota Fanning, Nicolas Cage, Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera and Robert Pattinson making appearances on the big screen. Check out the schedule below. But remember all release dates are subject to change.

MARCH 5

Alice in Wonderland. Johnny Depp is back in all his glory, this time as the Mad Hatter! ‘Nuff said.

Brooklyn’s Finest.  Portraying Brooklyn cops, Richard Gere, Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke form the star trio in this action thriller directed by Antione Fuqua.

MARCH 12

Green Zone. What’s a U.S. Army officer to do when he discovers faulty intelligence and covert shenanigans? If played by Matt Damon, he’s bound to go rogue. Greg Kinnear and Jason Isaac also appear in key roles here.

Remember Me. In this romantic drama, two lovers try to cope with family problems and tragedy. Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin co-star.

She’s Out of My League. Another romantic comedy involving an average guy falling for a super-hottie gal. Jay Baruchel and Alice Eve play the mismatched pair.

MARCH 19

The Bounty Hunter. Gerard Butler is the title character, and Jennifer Aniston portrays the woman he’s after here. Adding complications to the proceedings, his beautiful prey just happens to be the bounty hunter’s ex. Did I mention this is a romantic comedy? It looks like fun.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid. A wise-cracking junior high school student takes center stage in this comedy based on the illustrated novel by Jeff Kinney. Cast includes Steve Zahn, Devon Bostick, Alex Ferris, Zachary Gordon, Rachael Harris and Chloe Moretz.

Our Family Wedding.  Forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia play competitive fathers of a young couple who plan to marry. America Ferrera and Lance Gross portray the bride and groom, who both must learn how to deal with each other’s family in order to live happily every after.

Season of the Witch. This fantasy thriller stars Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman in a story about 14th Century knights, monks and suspected witchcraft.

The Runaways. A band formed by teenage girls in the 70s is the subject of this dramatic biopic. Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning play key roles.

MARCH 26

How To Train Your Dragon. In this animated fantasy, a young Viking -- who wants to become a dragon hunter -- finds himself the owner of a dragon, which changes his mind about these creatures. Voice talent includes Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Craig Ferguson and Kristen Wiig.

Hot Tub Time Machine. Is this the worst movie title ever? Anyway, four guys travel back to the 80s in a time-bending hot tub here. John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Crispin Glover, Clark Duke, Craig Robinson, and Chevy Chase appear in this ridiculously-named comedy. It has to be better than the previews.
