Tony Curtis & 'Some Like It Hot'
by Betty Jo Tucker

Legendary Hollywood actor Tony Curtis plans to drop by Movie Addict Headquarters on Tuesday, September 15, to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the beloved comedy classic Some Like It Hot.

Both Tony Curtis and Some Like It Hot are national treasures. Among Tony's many awards are: an Oscar nomination for The Defiant Ones; two Golden Globes naming him the World’s Favorite Male Actor (1958 & 1961); the 1958 Photoplay Award as Most Popular Male Star; the 1997 Distinguished Hollywood Film Artist Award from the St. Louis International Film Festival; and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Tony has displayed his versatility in a wide range of roles including Houdini, the Boston Strangler and Casanova. Because he’s appeared in 88 films, it’s difficult to pick a favorite Tony Cutis movie. However, his portrayal of Joe/Josephine in Some Like It Hot would surely rank high on almost everyone’s list!

Some Like It Hot was voted #1 on the American Film Institute list of 100 Funniest Movies as well as #14 on its list of the 100 Greatest Movies. The film also received five Oscar nominations (one win for costumes), three Golden Globe Awards, a Grammy nomination, and many other accolades.

What was it like filming this Hollywood classic? Tony shares his fascinating recollections in a new book, The Making of “Some Like It Hot”: My Memories of Marilyn Monroe and the Classic American Movie, which is available now for pre-order at Amazon.com. Previews of the book promise “a behind-the-scenes saga of intrigue, humor and romance.”

You won’t want to miss hearing Tony Curtis, a noted raconteur, discuss his new book and his experience as one of the great Some Like It Hot stars. So be sure to check out Movie Addict Headquarters on BlogTalkRadio this September 15th at 1 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. Eastern Time, 2 p.m. Mountain Time). An archived segment will also be available.  It should be a very exciting show!
