'Singin' in the Rain' Honored
by Betty Jo Tucker

Filled with glorious dancing, wonderful songs, awesome performances and hilarious comedy, Singin’ in the Rain just might be the most entertaining movie ever made. That’s why Movie Addict Headquarters is honoring this enduring Hollywood classic during a special Tribute Show scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, on BlogTalkRadio. Film historian and noted movie critic James Colt Harrison plans to drop by to help MAHQ celebrate the popular 1952 movie. Some surprise callers -- and fan Jordan Wellin -- may also join in.

Discussion will focus on the following questions:

Why was Singin’ in the Rain such an amazing success?

What are the best musical numbers in this film?

Which scenes are the most humorous?

Which actor/actress (Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor or Jean Hagen) delivers the best performance?

What dialogue lines are the most memorable?

If this musical were re-made today, which stars should be cast in key roles?

How does Singin’ in the Rain rank in comparison with other movie musicals?

Harrison, a popular guest on Movie Addict Headquarters, is author of a history of MGM, the studio responsible for Singinin the Rain. He belongs to the San Diego Film Critics Association and serves as the premier film critic for the La Jolla Village News. He also writes film commentary for Rage Monthly, No Cover Music Magazine and San Diego Metro Weekly. Harrison recently served as panelists at Robert Osborne’s Fifth Annual Classic Film Festival.

This Singin’ in the Rain Tribute Show will air on Tuesday, July 28, at 4 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Pacific Time). During the live show, listeners are invited to call in and to participate in a chat. An archived segment will also be available.
