Wolverine Gets Waxed
by Betty Jo Tucker

Thanks to Erik Peterson of Allied Advertising for sending me the press release below.

LOS ANGELES, April 13, 2009 -- Hugh Jackman and the character that launched him to superstardom -- the beloved mutant antihero Wolverine -- will be immortalized in wax at a gala event at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, on April 29, 2009.

Jackman joins a gallery of notable figures from the worlds of history, politics and pop culture -- including recent inductee Michelle Obama -- to receive the honor of seeing himself (and his on-screen alter ego Wolverine) transformed into a wax figure.

Rosita Chapman, Attractions Manager of Madame Tussauds, commented: "The new wax figure of Wolverine is sure to be a favorite with visitors from all over the world.”

The event precedes the May 1 launch of Jackman’s fourth turn as Wolverine: X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, in which he stars and serves as a producer.  Jackman previously played the character in X-Men, X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, the first chapter in the X-Men saga, unites Wolverine with several other legends of the X-Men universe, in an epic revolution that pits the mutants against powerful forces determined to eliminate them.
