Tim Daly Earns Acting Excellence Award
by Betty Jo Tucker

Popular movie and television actor Tim Daly will be awarded the 2008 Excellence in Acting Award at this year’s Vail Film Festival, which is scheduled from April 3-6 in scenic Vail, Colorado. The following paragraph from a Festival press release explains why Daly's recognition is so well-deserved.

“Daly has taken on the screen from every angle.  As an actor, he's morphed his leading man image from frightening cult leader David Koresh in In The Line of Duty: Ambush at Waco to legendary astronaut Jim Lovell in HBO's From the Earth to the Moon to struggling sports reporter in Paramount's Against the Ropes to the voice of iconic superhero Superman in the animated series and animated feature.  While acting remains his truest passion, Daly has been actively producing and directing in recent years.  The results of which have garnered him both a Peabody and a Humanitas award.  Currently, he stars in the hit series Private Practice from the Golden Globe-winning creator of Grey’s Anatomy. Daly recently received an Emmy nomination in the "Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series" category for his memorable turn in The Sopranos. He also played a starring role in the critically acclaimed ABC/Warner Bros. Television series, The Nine.”

I first saw Daly in Wings, that wonderful television series of the 90s, and have followed his career ever since. Impressed by the way the talented actor plays both comedy and drama with equal aplomb, I always enjoy his performances. Happily, Daly has agreed to discuss his diverse acting career with my producer Nikki Starr and me during our “Movie Addict Headquarters” show on Tuesday, April 1. This BlogTalkRadio program airs at 4 p.m. Eastern Time, and an archived segment will be available after the live broadcast.
