Stanley Kramer Tribute
by Betty Jo Tucker

Legendary filmmaker Stanley Kramer's thirty-five movies won fifteen Oscars and earned eighty Academy Award nominations during his lifetime -- which means he holds the record for the most nominations of any filmmaker to date. During 2008, several celebratory events have been scheduled to honor this socially-conscious director/producer, and my BlogTalkRadio show, “Movie Addict Headquarters,” will help kick off the festivities with KAREN SHARPE KRAMER as our special guest on Tuesday, February 5, at 4 p.m. Eastern Time.

During her interview, Stanley Kramer’s widow (and Golden Globe winning actress for The High and the Mighty), will discuss some of her husband’s great films as well as her role as his associate in making these movies. She will also talk about The Stanley Kramer Collection, a DVD soon to be released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Among the upcoming events related to Stanley Kramer’s remarkable film legacy are:

* Presentation of the prestigious Producers Guild of America’s Stanley Kramer Award to Oprah Winfrey and other producers behind The Great Debaters.

* Dedication of the Sunset Gower Studios new state-of-the-art screening facility as the Stanley Kramer Theater.

* Release of The Stanley Kramer Collection DVD on February 12. Just take a look at the films included in this DVD!  The Wild One, Ship of Fools, Member of the Wedding, The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T -- and, of course, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.

* Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner on February 13.

Listen to Karen Sharpe Kramer’s interview by clicking on this BlogTalkRadio link at 4 p.m. on February 5, Eastern Time. An archived segment will also be available after the live broadcast.
