Dr. Ravi or Mr. Hyde?
by Betty Jo Tucker

“Making movies is not brain surgery; it is more difficult than that,” says Dr. Ravi Godse. He should know, for Godse is the real-life physician who wrote, produced, directed -- and stars! -- in Dr. Ravi & Mr. Hyde, a very funny comedy about a doctor who went to film school to make a film about being a doctor. On July 31, Godse will visit my “Movie Addict Headquarters” show on BlogTalkRadio to discuss his charming movie, which is now available on DVD via Internet retailers and in stores nationwide. Godse’s interview will be broadcast live at 4 p.m. Eastern Time and will be available afterwards as an archived segment.

In Dr. Ravi & Mr. Hyde, Godse takes our “mid-life crisis” hero on a journey from Pittsburg to South Africa as he tries to create a film that will bring him the greatness he always hoped to achieve. “I want to make a classic,” he declares. But his wife and his colleagues (who start avoiding him at the hospital) look on this new project with disdain. As Dr. Ravi continues to pursue his filmmaking goal, he becomes obsessed with it, and he turns into his own version of Mr. Hyde. The movie is all Dr. Ravi talks about, so it’s no wonder his personal life starts falling apart.

In our discussion, Godse plans to cover such topics as why he decided to become an independent filmmaker, what he enjoyed most and least about making Dr. Ravi & Mr. Hyde, how he went about casting his movie, and amusing incidents during the filming process.

I can’t help wondering if it will be Dr. Ravi or Mr. Hyde who shows up for the interview!
