Joan Steiger & Her Showbiz Memoir
by Betty Jo Tucker

On June 14, Joan Benedict Steiger (Rod Steiger's widow) visits Movie Addict Headquarters to discuss her fascinating memoir, Brooklyn Baby: A Hollywood Star’s Amazing Journey through Love, Loss & Laughter. Joan proves there’s no business like show business in this candid and entertaining book. She pulls no punches writing about the three loves of her life, her own remarkable acting career, and her close encounters with such legendary Hollywood stars as Elizabeth Taylor, Burt Lancaster, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Charlton Heston and many more. Brooklyn Baby is a must-read for movie fans!

However, Joan’s memoir, co-written with David Minasian, is also an inspirational read. Despite the tragedies in her life, she maintains a positive outlook and takes on new acting roles with great enthusiasm. Brooklyn Baby makes us want to emulate her hopeful attitude. In fact, she even challenges us to follow our dreams.

A dancer from childhood, Joan boasts impressive credits on TV, movies and live theatre.  Her TV work includes “Candid Camera,” “The Steve Allen Show,” “General Hospital,” “Days of Our Lives,” and “Dollhouse.” Among her stage productions are classic plays, modern comedies and her acclaimed solo shows (“Leona” about Leona Helmsley and her autobiographical “The Loves of My Life” about Rod Steiger, John Myhers and Jeremy Slate, all of whom passed away from different forms of cancer).

Joan’s films range from comedies like The Prizefighter and The Private Eyes to serious movies like Dead Border and The Flying Dutchman. She also has upcoming roles in Opus to an Angel and the action comedy Thou Shalt Not Steal. Because of her remarkable acting career, Joan received the Eternity Award for “lifetime achievements that have made a lasting contribution to the world of theatre” by the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival.

“Joan Steiger & Her Showbiz Memoir” airs on BlogTalkRadio at 1 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. Eastern Time) on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. During the live show, listeners are encouraged to call in and to participate in a chat. An archived segment will also be available.
